At Crest HQ we recently held a Facebook #WINWEDNESDAY competition. The rules were quite simple just comment about how a whiter smile, or by having whiter teeth would make you feel. It was open to both men and women, however there was one comment that really struck a chord with me “A Smile is the Best Make Up a Girl can Wear”, sent in by Emma Llewelleyn. Now needless to say Emma didn’t win due to the luck of the draw however I started to delve deeper in what appeared at first, to be a quite simple statement.
What I found was that in fact ‘the smile’ is super critical, and here is why…

It is said that a true smile comes from the eye’s, indeed I firmly believe this. Anyone can flash off a fake smile, you know the one, its very forced and there is no ‘laughter’ behind it. More often than not this type of smile is with closed lips.
Now think about if you are with your friends, family or out with mates down the pub and someone says something really funny. You all burst out laughing in fits of giggles and hysterics – a real laugh, a real smile. Or when a boy (or girl) pays you a genuine compliment and you just cant help but smile, its impossible not to.
These are real smiles. These smiles are a reflection of you.
Now imagine if you let rip with one of your real genuine cracker smiles, right from the heart and deep within your eyes.
Except on this occasion you are the proud owner of yellow stained teeth.

Crest HQ gets sent lots of before and after photographs from clients, to show how impressed (or occasionally not) with Crest 3D Whitestrips they are. I will let you into a little secret about lipstick I have found.
Those with whitish teeth, look much whiter with a good (ideally red) lipstick. Those with really white teeth wearing red or a deep contrasting lipstick look sensational.
But those with stained teeth, dirty teeth no matter what lipstick they wear, well their smile is forgettable.

The contrast of red and dark, or stark colours with white teeth appears to emphasis the smile and the shade of the teeth even more.
Now what I have also discovered is that when you smile the crinkles around your eyes curve upwards, away from your face.
However when you smile, your ‘grin lines’ turn upwards and make you look back at your eyes. Remember a real true smile is from the eyes.
Its like your smile is the centre of your face, its linking everything together.
The demand to have perfect teeth gets greater everyday. As I mention in other articles, looking sensational is rammed down your throat every time you turn on the TV set, go to the movies or even just go out!!
However there are people who NEED straighter, whiter teeth and there are those that WANT to look amazing. Whichever category you are in today this is very affordable, whether that’s going to see your local dentist or orthodontist or even using a product like Crest 3D Whitestrips.
The difference a great smile makes, with whiter, straighter teeth is amazing. It is life transforming, certainly for those that suffered previously.
And the big thing is that a great smile is one you never have to take off. You should never have to cover up a smile.
